A few years ago I re-recorded a song called Let Her Go. It was all about a breakup and the pain of having to let go of a loved one, but I realised if you changed the words just a little bit it could hold dear to how a father would most likely feel when he has to let go of his daughter, and so I got my friend’s 16-year-old daughter (at the time), to sing it to our words with minimal music (I felt emotion comes from the silence of music sometimes), and this new version was born. It has been edited using footage from brides we are permitted to share and who mean the world to us, just because every day can be father’s day when you are getting married.
“A father holds his daughter’s hand for a while, but I hold his heart forever.” A bride said that to us once. This line inspired the video.
